Tap on the icon of the Hero you intend to remove from the squad while selecting the members before the battle. Once you do this, you will see all Heroes available for battle. Tap the one you need, and this Hero will occupy vacant space. Note that it is not possible to use two identical Heroes in a team at the same time. Moreover, some Heroes cannot be selected if they are currently in the Tavern or engaged in other game activities.
